Platform delivery workers call for Labour Ministerial Regulation to protect platform delivery workers: hourly wage + 62-baht minimum rate, and 20% cap on app deduction
(15 August 2025, 10:00) Today at the Ministry of Labour, the Rangsit Platform Workers Group and the Riders Center met with the Labour Minister Pongkawin Juangroongruangkit to present issues faced by platform workers and demand the Labour Minister's actions for labour protection. The worker delegation also demanded the abolition of the controversial Draft Independent Workers Act and urged the Minister to issue a Labour Ministerial Regulation for labour protection.
Thai Labor Movement Demands FTA Talks Guarantee Union Rights and Collective Bargaining
The Thai labor movement—consisting of the State Enterprises Workers’ Federation, the Thai Labor Solidarity Confederation, the People’s Party Labor Network, and the Labor Network for People’s Rights, with more than 100 participants—gathered in front of The Athenee Hotel Bangkok on Witthayu Road, Bangkok. They demanded that the upcoming Free Trade Area (FTA) negotiations between Thailand and the European Union include the Thai government’s ratification of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Conventions on Freedom of Association and the Right to Collective Bargaining (Conventions No. 87 and 98).
Southern Riders Oppose Independent Workers Bill, Demand Per-Delivery Rate Raised to 62 Baht
The Southern Riders Association, Krabi Province, led by Ms. Thanyanree Charuprasit, submitted a letter to Minister of Labor Phongkwin Choengrungrojkit through Mr. Weerachat Boonkem, Senior Labor Academic Specialist at the Krabi Provincial Labor Office.

Representatives from the Workers’ Union, Rider Center, and the Platform Riders’ Union–Rangsit, numbering 12 persons, attended the Ministry of Labor as scheduled. Although the Minister of Labor was absent due to urgent duties, he delegated Ms. Buppha Rueangsut, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labor, Mr. Manas Kosol, Advisor to the Minister of Labor, and 20 other relevant officials to hear the workers’ demands.
